Drive bays:

The R740xd has 24 SFF or 12 LFF drive bays at the front and another drive tray at the rear to support  2 LFF and 4SFF hot swap drives. This server has expandable system architecture with up to 24 NVMe drives or a  total of 32 x 2.5” or 18 x 3.5” drives to provide the perfect balance between performance and scalability. iDRAC9 System Lockdown mode stops users from changing any configuration settings and Prevent malicious or unauthorized change in configuration .iDRAC9 System Erase feature helps to wipe all data from storage media including SSDs, hard drives, and system memory securely and quickly.
