Drive bays:

The R740xd has 24 SFF or 12 LFF drive bays at the front and another drive tray at the rear to support  2 LFF and 4SFF hot swap drives. This server has expandable system architecture with up to 24 NVMe drives or a  total of 32 x 2.5” or 18 x 3.5” drives to provide the perfect balance between performance and scalability. This server allows mixing any drive type to get the perfect and configuration of  SSD, NVMe, and HDD for performance, capacity or both.
