How to install Physical Drives in Dell Power Vault MD 3800 f Storage?

The Dell Power Vault MD3800f storage array supports up to twelve 3.5-inch SAS physical drives in internal drive bays. Physical drives are connected to a backplane through physical-drive carriers and can be configured as hot-swappable.

The Dell PowerVault MD3800f arrays can  support 120 drives in standard
configurations.When expanded using the Premium Feature Key, the Dell PowerVault MD3800f arrays feature support for an exceptional 180 or 192 drives . 

 The Dell PowerVault MD 3800f has flexibility with single or dual active/active controllers and choose between a 2GB, 4GB or 8GB cache per controller in dual-controller configurations.


 Installing a physical Drives:

 Using the system key, unlock the front bezel (if locked).  

 Lift the release latch next to the keylock.  

 Rotate the left end of the bezel away from the front panel.  

 Unhook the right end of the bezel and pull the bezel away from the system.

Press the release button and slide the physical drive blank out until it is free from the physical drive slot.

Install a physical drive in the physical-drive carrier.

 Then press the release button on the front of the physical-drive carrier and open the physical-drive carrier handle.

Insert the physical-drive carrier into the physical-drive slot until the carrier connects with the backplane. 

 Close the physical-drive carrier handles to lock the physical drive in place.

Insert the physical drive into the physical-drive carrier with the connector end of the physical drive toward the back.  

 Align the screw holes on the physical drive with the back set of holes on the physical-drive carrier.

  When aligned correctly, the back of the physical drive is flush with the back of the physical-drive carrier. 

 Attach the screws to secure the physical drive to the physical-drive carrier.

Insert the physical-drive blank into the physical-drive slot until the release button clicks into place.Then install the front bezel.
