SQL Server 2019 Hardware Requirements
What Is A SQL Server 2019?
SQL Server is the software
product developed and marketed by Microsoft. It is the Relational Database Management
System software or RDBMS for storing and retrieving data as requested by other
Application software.
SQL Server tied on top of the
standard programming language SQL. Transact-SQL or T-SQL is Microsoft’s
implementation of SQL.
Enterprise, Standard, Web,
Developer and Express are the different editions of SQL Server. The current
version of SQL Server is SQL Server 2019.
SQL Server 2019 provides
advanced features and abilities to the modern data ecosystem by providing better
support It increases the efficiency of data management and data-driven
applications.
Advanced Features In SQL Server 2019:
1. SQL Server 2019 provides better integration with huge data systems
and provides data virtualization by new connectors.
2. It has more container
scenarios and more platforms to provide greater choice for language and
platform with better extensibility.
3. Added capabilities to support
GDPR compliance, intelligent query processing extensions provide better
performance and security.
4. Embedded machine learning
and AI in many scenarios like machine learning in SQL Server on Linux and machine
learning in failover cluster instances.
5. Support for transactional
replication and distributed transactions enhance the SQL Server on Linux, by bringing
SQL Server on Linux closer like SQL Server on Windows.
Minimum Hardware Requirements For SQL Server 2019:
Processor:
Intel Xeon processor such as
Intel Xeon with Intel EM64T and Intel Pentium IV with EM64T supported. Installation
of SQL Server 2019 supported on x64 processors with a minimum of 1.4 GHz. But
the recommended processor speed is 2.0 GHz or faster.
Memory:
Minimum Memory supported for
installing Express Editions is 512 MB and for other editions minimum of 1 GB
required. But the recommended memory for Express Editions is 1 GB and for all
other editions minimum of 4 GB and raised as database size increases to make
sure the ideal performance.
Hard disk:
Minimum of 6 GB of hard-disk
space required for installing SQL server 2019. Disk space requirements may vary
according to the installed SQL Server components.
Monitor:
SQL Server 2019 needs
Super-VGA (800x600) or a higher resolution monitor.
Servers with Persistent
Memory provides the best support for Data Management and Analytics Workloads.
Few Server hardware ideal for Installing SQL
server 2019:
HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server:
The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 the server provides workload-optimized performance, management automation and
security.
Dell EMC PowerEdge R840:
This server has Intel Optane
DC Persistent Memory, as well as 15.36TB of DRAM. It has a special design for
data analytics, Artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Dell EMC PowerEdge R940xa:
The Dell EMC PowerEdge
R940xa is the best data analytics server. It also has a persistent memory and
1:1 ratio of GPUs to CPUs acceleration. It has large internal storage with up
to 32 drives including 4 NVMes for supporting large data sets.
